Penthea is a private non-profit organization. It is neither regularly drawing any government/public funds, nor being financed by a private sponsor or sponsors.
That being said, we cover all costs associated with running the rescue and breeding center by income from our various activities: Educational programs for grammar schools and kindergartens, lectures and animal therapies for nursing facilities, private tours of our bird center, and more.
The way we operate, and particularly the freedom gained by managing our own funds, has allowed us to keep on with endeavors, such as rescuing, treating and providing home to animals in need, as well as our conservation project – saving barn owls, a critically endangered owl species.
These endeavors are of great importance to us. If you see the value in them, too, please do consider supporting us.
Whether you choose to adopt one of our birds of prey, or to book a tour of the shelter, it will help us cover the costs of providing a professional care to all the animals our shelter is home to.

A hands-on experience!
You will first get familiar with all our birds, and the way our breeding station operates to save various endangered species. Then, you will participate in feeding the birds of prey, including our bald eagle Helen, vulture Omar, pair of Harris hawks and a few others. They will fly just above your heads, and they will land (should you dare to try it!) on your arm protected by a special glove. We will finish off by showcasing the training of the fastest bird of prey on the planet, our falcon Gulliver.
Other things to note
You will get a gift certificate valid for 6 months.
Suitable both for adults and children (ideally more than 6 years old).
Coffee, tea and other beverages included, as well as a little goodbye present.
❄️☀️ This is a year-round event, suitable perfectly for both winter and summer weather.
Transport to and from the site is not included.
The perfect option for extra keen individuals, couples, families or close friends.
⭐️ The event can be adjusted to any special needs of the group. This can include, among others, more time spent with our owls, or a program especially suited for children.
⭐️ One voucher covers a group of 1 to 10 people, with 10 people being the maximum capacity.
